About Us
A not-for-profit, community-based organisation providing services that improve the holistic health and wellbeing of the women of Aylesbury.
Who we are
Somewhere to begin again
Aylesbury Women’s Centre exists because too many women were falling through the gaps — between services, between languages, between one crisis and the next.
Some women arrive because they need nappies. Some arrive because they want to learn English. Some arrive because something at home has stopped feeling safe and they do not yet have the words for it. Whatever brings a woman through the door, she is met with a cup of tea and a woman who will listen properly.
We are a not-for-profit, community-based organisation, and the centre is run by women, for women. Our experienced and qualified team works from a holistic perspective that considers all aspects of a woman's health and wellbeing — because a budgeting problem is rarely just a budgeting problem, and confidence is rarely rebuilt in one appointment.
Everything we run is free, and nobody needs a referral. If you are not sure whether we are the right place for you, send us a message anyway. We would far rather point you in the right direction than have you wonder.
“We are currently moving to a new home in Aylesbury. Our programmes continue as normal — please get in touch on 07481 275169 and we will let you know exactly where to come.”

Our story
Birthed from experience. Built on hope. Created for women.
Aylesbury Women's Centre was founded by three women who knew what it meant to survive abuse, rebuild their lives and walk their own journeys of healing.
Some had experienced difficult childhoods, others abusive relationships, and each carried their own experiences of adversity. Through their individual journeys, they discovered that healing was possible, strength could be rebuilt, and life could become something different.
Despite having experienced unhealthy relationships in the past, some went on to find incredible husbands and discovered that healthy, loving relationships were possible — proof that their past did not have to define their future.
When the time was right, they turned their experiences into purpose. They came together to create a place where other women could feel safe, supported and empowered to heal, rebuild and move forward.
Their vision was always bigger than themselves. The founders wanted the Aylesbury Women's Centre to grow beyond them—to become a lasting source of support, strength, and hope for women for generations to come. While some of the founders have moved on, their legacy of seeing women healed continues.

What our motto means
Restoration. Transformation. Freedom.
Three words on our logo, and the order things usually happen in.
Restoration
First, the practical things. A safe place to sit down, someone to help with the paperwork, nappies for the baby, a hot lunch in the holidays. Steadiness before anything else.
Transformation
Then, the skills and understanding that change what comes next — English, budgeting, recognising unhealthy patterns, learning what respect is supposed to feel like.
Freedom
And finally, a woman who makes her own decisions. Who knows her own worth. Who does not need us in the same way any more — and who often comes back to help someone else.
How we work
The things we will not compromise on
Run by women, for women
Every class, group and conversation at the centre is led by women. For many of the women who come to us, that is the difference between walking through the door and walking away.
The whole woman, not the crisis
Our experienced and qualified team works from a holistic perspective that considers all aspects of a woman’s health and wellbeing — practical, emotional, financial and social.
Privacy is not negotiable
We never publish photographs or stories that could identify the women we support. Anything shared in a group or a one-to-one stays there.
Rooted in Aylesbury
We are a small local organisation, not a national helpline. The money raised here is spent here, on women and families in our own town.

See what we doIn their own words
Real women. Real change.
The Aylesbury Women’s Centre helped me out when I was at my most vulnerable. They helped me source furniture for me and my two children when I was placed in temporary accommodation. I will never forget their kindness and support.
Names have been changed and no client photographs are used, to protect the privacy of the women we support.
